Over the past few years Army Ants Removers have undertaken some very large full school & college relocations, each one an enormous task but we fully project managed them all, working closely with Lancashire County Council as the main move advisor. The results were a huge success every time with the schools fully functioning and ready to go at the start of term. We have also conducted many seamless university relocations such as UCLAN (University of Central Lancashire).
We also supply facilities departments with detailed information in regards to the planning of any relocation, create count volume, manage IT distribution, dismantling and reassembly of any items, labeling, emergency relocation, relocation schedules, site plans and strategy relocations. The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) have appointed Army Ants Removals on a yearly contract to fulfill the commercial office relocations within the campus and around Lancashire.
This involves moving furniture, packed crates and IT equipment to different service users within Lancashire. Army Ants Removals also look after UCLAN events, these events happen three to four times per year in different social areas and we are called upon to empty the social areas for science festivals, graduations and open evenings. We transport the items back to our secure storage depot in Leyland and then approximately 7 to 11 days after the event we take the furniture back and set out to a specified plan. The furniture is handled with the utmost of care as there are many different types, designs and sizes which require careful lifting and stacking.
We are pleased to announce our new work contracts for 2024 to 2025 will we have been working closely with UCLAN for the past 8 years.
In 2018 we were asked by Lancashire County Council facilities to survey Rhyddings High School in Burnley which was looking at a large relocation to Hambledon private college, the reason being that the school and some buildings required some immediate attention to deal with subsidence.
Army Ants provided a large team comprising of 11 removals staff, two 18 tonne vehicles and three 3.5 tonne vehicles to move a school holding 650 pupils. Upon conducting the full removals survey the information gathered meant that we needed to supply 892 LC3 crates and 210 ITC crates for the IT systems. The school had a very large stock of library books, music equipment, stationary equipment, art & design equipment and specialised machinery for woodwork and IM works.
This school relocation project took a total of 11 days to move out and involved a huge 35,000 cubic foot of volume. The pupils and teachers from Rhyddings High School were then relocated from Hambledon back to Rhyddings High School after the dramatic overhaul. As you can imagine the collaboration and planning involved in this very large project was highly complicated at times, but Army Ants Removals delivered the full relocation back to the original school two days ahead of completion! We really enjoyed working with Lancashire County Council facilities department and we were fully supported with help and advice in regards to IT and service support.
On completion of the very successful Rhyddings High School relocation, Army Ants were then asked to move and relocate Wennington Hall High School in Cumbria in the Lake District. This move on the initial survey was 42,000 cubic feet, all to be moved by hand onto our dedicated removals vehicles and distributed between local schools across Lancashire.
This enormous project took 19 days in total to complete, with strong collaboration between Army Ants Removals and Lancashire County Council we made sure that this project was delivered on time and within budget. Following the successful completion of this vast school relocation project the manager of Lancashire County Council Facilities was awarded a promotion, and Anthony, the owner of Army Ants Removals, was awarded Mover of the Year!
