In 2017 we were called upon by Lancashire County Council to handle the highly confidential relocation of the entire stock of Lancashire's births deaths and marriage certificates from the Docks in Preston to their secure storage facility on Bow Lane in Preston, this involved a lot of stairs!
Anthony, the owner of Army Ants, was on hand every single day to project manage this very important confidential relocation of all the historical certificates. After careful consideration and planning we arranged for each racking system to be packed in a certain order as getting them mixed up would be an absolute disaster to the whole project. Army Ants supplied a dedicated team of seven removals experts, one 18 tonne vehicle and two 3.5 tonne vehicles. With regards to the transportation of the confidential items, each important load had to be secured and escorted to the new site, and once it arrived at the new site the crates had to be taken up the stairs because ironically the lift had broken, this of course was very time consuming and the access was very tight within the building. We were given a starting point for each crate and number which then had to be carefully unloaded onto its specific shelf
This was both an exciting and challenging project, and the archives was an amazing place to visit with books and registers from the 1800s, also the smell was wonderful.
Upon successful completion of this very large project we received high praise from the Lancashire County Council for completing the job to such a high standard.
